Job Requirements

  • Minimum two years of catering sales or related hospitality experience
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in using property management software and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel locally for client appointments
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum two years in catering sales, hotel catering, convention services, banquet, hotel sales or culinary arts or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Exhibits computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and familiarity with property management systems such as Delphi
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, presentation, organization, time management, listening, and math skills
  • Uses analytical skills to measure business potential and value to the hotel
  • Maintains sales contracts and event information according to established procedures
  • Reads, interprets documents and writes routine reports and correspondence
  • Possesses innovative thinking and original ideas
  • Shows intense enthusiasm and interest
  • Detail oriented and capable of completing tasks thoroughly

Job Duties

  • Handle and follow up on inquiries for small meetings/events with or without guestrooms
  • Negotiate contracts and banquet event orders (BEO)
  • Identify and price customer needs for the event, upsell where possible, and close the sale with the customer
  • Communicate group details and changes to all hotel departments ensuring customer expectations are met
  • Present potential business at sales meetings to determine the best mix of customers to attain budgeted revenues
  • Finalize, detail and orchestrate catering plans on-site or off-site, empowered to solve problems
  • Prospect for new catering business using methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, trade shows, community functions, internet prospecting, and supplier partnerships
  • Monitor blocked space ensuring groups meet contractual obligations
  • Maintain account files in Delphi software system ensuring accurate communication between client and hotel staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned
