Job Description
The Catering Manager position is a vital role within a hotel's Sales department, focused on targeting and coordinating catering sales efforts. This position plays a key role in the development and solicitation of new catering business while nurturing existing client relations. Job Requirements
- Ability to stand for eight hours and perform physical activities like lifting up to 30 pounds and pushing or pulling 60 pounds

Job Qualifications
- One year catering and/or event management experience
- Two years experience in a hotel or event venue
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with customer relationship software like Hotel Sales and Catering Pro, Delphi, or Caterease preferred
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to multitask and maintain guest service orientation
- Demonstrated ability to sell and market hotel services effectively
Job Duties
- Collaborate with Sales and Food & Beverage teams to manage e-commerce activities related to event space
- Proactively direct external sales calls to generate new business in targeted market segments
- Partner with Sales team on inside sales involving event space bookings
- Respond to inquiries via phone, internet, and leads for event space with adherence to catering policies
- Ensure compliance with local liquor laws and health regulations
- Maintain preferred vendor lists for event and meeting services
- Review and reconcile banquet checks for accuracy
- Serve as primary contact for pre-con and post-function meetings
- Generate function agreements, banquet event orders, and diagrams, ensuring accurate distribution
- Conduct site inspections for event spaces and accommodations
- Ensure banquet event orders are complete and coordinate with vendors
- Oversee event coordination on-site, welcoming clients and working with banquet captains
- Develop and train banquet staff for efficient event set-up
- Meet or exceed revenue goals for assigned market segments
- Provide forecasted revenue and assist management in budget development
- Maintain safety and emergency procedures
- Obtain function guarantees and ensure all deposits are secured
- Uphold compliance with company policies and handbook
- Maintain certification from approved responsible vendor training
- Perform other duties as assigned within capability
