Job Requirements

  • Must pass security clearance per company policy
  • Must be able to push or pull 60 pounds and lift or carry 30 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for eight hours and perform physical tasks like bending, stretching, and reaching
  • Must be able to see, hear, speak, and read English
  • Must have computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must display professionalism, honesty, and trustworthiness at all times
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally for training
  • Knowledge of local liquor laws, health, and sanitation regulations
  • Must maintain certification from an approved vendor training program

Job Qualifications

  • One year catering and/or event management experience
  • Two years experience in a hotel or event venue
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with customer relationship management software like Hotel Sales and Catering Pro, Delphi, or Caterease preferred
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Professionalism, honesty, and trustworthiness
  • Ability to communicate in English, additional language skills are a plus
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively with different departments

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with Sales and Food & Beverage teams on posting e-commerce activities for event space
  • Direct outside sales calls at least 50% of the time to generate new business
  • Manage group segments requiring catering, banquet, meeting room rental, and AV bookings
  • Respond to incoming inquiries about event space via phone, internet, and leads
  • Ensure compliance with local liquor laws, health, and sanitation regulations
  • Maintain a preferred vendors list for ancillary services related to venues and meeting spaces
  • Review banquet checks for accuracy and reconcile event charges
  • Serve as point of contact for all pre-con and post-con meetings
  • Generate function agreements, Banquet Event Orders, and diagrams for upcoming events and distribute to hotel staff
  • Conduct site inspections for event spaces and rooms
  • Ensure BEOs are complete with correspondence to outside vendors and finalize programs
  • Serve as Hotel’s Event Coordinator during events and coordinate guest requests with operational staff
  • Train banquet team members for setup of banquet and meeting facilities
  • Meet or exceed solicitation and revenue goals for assigned market segments
  • Provide forecasted revenue reports to management and assist in budget development
  • Maintain safety, security, and emergency procedure knowledge
  • Obtain function guarantees and ensure deposits and payments are satisfied
  • Implement all company policies and procedures including associate handbook regulations
  • Maintain certification from a brand-approved responsible vendor training program
  • Perform other duties as assigned that the associate is capable of performing
