Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years relevant experience in sales or related field
  • must understand Consumer Packaged Goods industry dynamics
  • proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • preferred experience with SAP
  • strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • must possess a valid driver’s license
  • ability to travel up to 75% of the time
  • ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • must be respectful, approachable and team oriented

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years’ relevant experience
  • understanding of the dynamics of the Consumer Packaged Goods industry
  • solid understanding of customer focused and fact based selling including IRI, Nielsen and Perishable Group data
  • knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • SAP experience preferred
  • strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • high level of written and verbal communication skills

Job Duties

  • Achieving budgeted sales of consumer goods to key customers
  • developing and achieving maximum sales volume consistent with realistic sales projections for accounts served
  • maintaining business with existing accounts for continued growth
  • maintaining current knowledge of Smithfield’s product management and research and development efforts
  • developing working relations with personnel at various levels to communicate product availability, logistics information, product specifications, and pricing
  • ensuring prompt and equitable disposition of customer complaints or problems
  • serving as backup for other sales associates as necessary
