Job Duties
- knowing and practicing the principles of quantity food cooking
- assuring foods are cooked to specified temperatures
- taking corrective action to maintain proper food temperatures
- reporting questionable quality food products to supervisor
- participating prepared in scheduled meetings
- improving taste, smell, appearance and texture of food
- preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner and special items as per established standards
- reporting unsafe conditions promptly
- maintaining clean and sanitary work area
- maintaining clean and sanitized equipment and utensils
- using proper hand washing techniques
- suggesting items for café menu rotation
- preparing special requests accurately and on time
- producing recipes to avoid waste or run-outs
- preparing diet modifications ensuring wholesomeness
- following standardized recipe cards
- determining recipe usage order to maximize equipment
- completing daily pre-preparation and pull worksheet
- preparing food for special functions and customers attractively
- adhering to sanitation guidelines to prevent food borne illness
- ensuring food is properly chilled, covered, labeled, dated and stored
- demonstrating proper body mechanics to avoid injury
- maintaining orderly and sanitary walk-in and freezer
- recording refrigeration temperatures daily
- demonstrating respect for patients, families, visitors and employees
- recognizing and respecting cultural diversity
- communicating effectively with diverse customers
- utilizing interpreters when needed
