Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in heavy civil construction
  • Certification as a First Aid and CPR instructor required (can be obtained post-hire)
  • Ability to travel up to 60%
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proficiency with safety management software such as Donesafe and Power BI
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance standards

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field is preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction is required
  • OSHA 500 certification is preferred
  • Certification as a First Aid and CPR instructor is required (can be obtained post-hire)
  • CHST or equivalent certifications are preferred

Job Duties

  • Lead the implementation of a robust safety strategy to mitigate risks across projects
  • Encourage engagement in safety processes at all management and craft levels
  • Foster a culture of safety leadership throughout the organization
  • Establish and promote ethical and responsible use of resources
  • Develop and communicate an open strategy for safety incidents and performance indicators
  • Ensure consistency in safety programs across various projects
  • Compile and present monthly safety performance reports detailing work hours and incident trends
  • Maintain written safety plans for all projects
  • Support projects during regulatory inquiries and facilitate visits
  • Evaluate project safety programs and recommend necessary changes
  • Utilize Donesafe and Power BI fully for managing incidents and observations
  • Assess corrective actions post-incident to ensure adherence to best practices
  • Participate in tactical planning and support safety initiatives in the market sector
  • Engage in incident investigations and manage injury cases effectively
  • Ensure thorough root cause analyses are conducted for all incidents
  • Provide safety support during project planning and execution
  • Coordinate safety staffing needs in collaboration with area directors
  • Implement and manage a front-line supervisor safety leadership training program
  • Conduct inspections to proactively identify risk factors on-site
  • Summarize and communicate findings from site visits with leadership for corrective action planning
  • Guarantee compliance with corporate safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Conduct reviews of leading indicators to preemptively identify trends and suggest corrective measures
  • Design and deliver training on various safety topics, collaborating with subject matter experts as necessary
