Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in related safety or safety engineering disciplines
- Five to seven years of experience in safety or safety engineering
- Ability to satisfy rigorous and demanding work schedules including non-traditional hours
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong understanding of union and management environments
- Excellent verbal and technical writing skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in safety or safety engineering disciplines or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five to seven years of experience in safety or safety engineering field
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, FRA, FTA, NFPA, PennDOT, and applicable regulations
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience working in union and management environments
- Skilled in reviewing accident data and developing corrective safety action plans
- Excellent verbal and technical writing skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Preferred certifications include USDOT Transportation Institute Transit Safety and Security Program, FTA Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program
- Working knowledge of Homeland Security Emergency and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
- Knowledge of Military Standard 882 and safety hazard mitigation
- Experience in transit safety and security
Job Duties
- Facilitates and assists audits of Authority’s operational systems by regulatory agencies
- Implements activities required by Federal Transit Administration and Federal Railroad Administration
- Inspects operations and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Conducts compliance audits of operational rules and practices
- Develops and executes audit protocols and safety support programs
- Conducts fire and life safety inspections of facilities, stations, and tunnels
- Organizes and conducts annual fire drills and emergency evacuation exercises
- Supports design reviews and site visits related to safety compliance
- Participates in municipal fire inspections and follows up on corrective actions
- Conducts fire investigations related to Authority property and equipment
- Audits fire safety equipment such as fire alarms and suppression systems
- Maintains up-to-date safety programs and guidelines in compliance with codes
- Collaborates with insurance underwriters on loss control implementation
- Ensures infrastructure projects comply with fire and safety standards
- Serves as liaison with emergency response and management agencies
- Develops and manages emergency preparedness plans and conducts safety training for responders
- Reviews accident and incident statistics to develop risk reduction programs
- Provides safety consultation and maintains compliance with multiple regulatory bodies
- Prepares technical reports and standard operating procedures related to safety functions
