Job Requirements
- a bachelor’s degree preferably in safety or a related field
- minimum of eight years of safety and health experience in vertical construction, heavy industry, manufacturing or similar industries
- professional safety certifications such as CSP, CHST, CIH, or NYC DOB Site Safety Manager
- experience managing multiple projects and safety personnel
- exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- ability to work in the New York/New Jersey area with some flexibility for national support
- proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- ability to collaborate across departments and with external agencies
- commitment to maintaining compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations
- capacity for proactive strategic planning and decision-making
- strong organizational and record-keeping skills
Job Qualifications
- bachelor’s degree preferably in safety or related field
- professional credentials such as CSP, CHST, CIH, or NYC DOB Site Safety Manager certification
- exceptional verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
- minimum of 8 years of safety and health experience in vertical construction, heavy industry or related sectors
- experience managing multiple projects and safety personnel
- computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft software
- strong knowledge of construction and transportation safety regulations
- ability to provide strategic safety program support and development
- demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills
Job Duties
- support strategic planning for safety and health programs across the Transportation Northeast Operating Group
- facilitate organizing and running multiple inspection and field projects ensuring safety and compliance
- administer safety practices among office locations
- coordinate with leadership to implement STV’s HSE program
- manage completion of Health and Safety Plans
- conduct regular site surveys to assess safety practices and hazards
- interface with clients, contractors, NYC DOB, OSHA, and other safety professionals
- support proposals by reviewing safety requirements and engaging in pre-construction planning
- develop and implement safety procedures and policies
- monitor compliance with federal, state, and local safety legislation, laws, and standards
- audit STV’s HSE management system
- provide career development guidance for safety staff
- participate in investigations of injuries and incidents, maintain records and reports
- support regulatory investigations and citation management
- maintain safety logs and incident records
- serve as point of contact for contractors’ and subcontractors’ Safety Representatives
- collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to translate policies into effective work practices
- monitor and attend project and pre-construction meetings
- promote safety initiatives on project sites
