Job Requirements

Job Qualifications
- Degree in occupational health and safety, environmental safety, or a related field of study
- Five years of experience managing construction projects related to heavy civil construction
- Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of safety programs on complex projects
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, record keeping, and injury management
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST)
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies
- Strong work ethic and willingness to complete tasks thoroughly
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional interaction with all management levels
- CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications preferred
- Ability to access all points of a construction site in various climates
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
Job Duties
- Manage the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work
- Compile, analyze, and interpret occupational illness and accident statistical data at the project level
- Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards
- Routinely inspect the facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Monitor workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on correct safety practices
- Develop environmental health and safety training materials including manuals, brochures, and presentations
- Establish a paperwork management system to track all safety training initiatives
- Interpret safety regulations and ensure their application on the project
- Coordinate and present safety training to meet client requirements including new hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout, and respiratory safety training
- Interface with OSHA and other regulatory officials during site visits and inspections
