Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in safety engineering, safety management, architecture, construction management, industrial or environmental health and safety, a physical science, or a related field
- five years of professional experience developing and implementing safety and health procedures
- experience performing accident investigations and prevention
- valid driver's license
- willingness to work on site and at various city locations
- ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
- maintain current licensure and certifications
- ability to apply technological and scientific methods to hazard reduction
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Architecture, Construction Management, Industrial or Environmental Health and Safety, a physical science, or a related field
- five years of professional experience developing and implementing safety programs
- knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety controls
- experience supervising staff and managing operations
- strong communication skills
- training or experience in emergency management
- experience supporting security and drug testing programs
- knowledge of de-escalation techniques
- preferred professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist
Job Duties
- Develop, implement, and maintain department-wide health and safety programs, policies, and procedures
- work with staff to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations
- identify workplace hazards and implement effective controls
- lead accident and incident investigations and conduct root cause analyses
- design and deliver safety training and outreach
- develop and implement emergency management systems
- serve as liaison to leadership on safety and security matters
- manage security-related incidents and investigations
- provide guidance on de-escalation and personal security during public interactions
