Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or construction related degree or minimum of five years related experience
- Strong, critical thinking skills and capable of anticipating organizational needs
- Ability to work effectively handling multiple projects
- Roadway construction or highway maintenance experience preferred
- Maintenance of Traffic / Traffic Control Supervisor certification and card required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Customer-service oriented
- Knowledge of OSHA construction and general industry regulations
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Ability and willingness to travel, including overnight trips
- Clean driving record
- Must pass criminal background check
- Ability to work full time Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with flexibility for outside schedule work
Job Qualifications
- Maintain company standards for background checks including criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing
- Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
- Carry out simple arithmetic functions
- Maintain proper safety equipment required for each job
- Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology
- Ability to use smart phone and applications
- Ability to adjust to changing work schedule
- Ability to work safely under varying environmental and weather conditions
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to operate hand/power tools
Job Duties
- Champion regulatory compliance programs
- Ensure 100% compliance with OSHA and DOT requirements as well as federal and/or state regulations
- Support EHS training programs by scheduling and hosting activities
- Perform temporary traffic control inspections to ensure compliance with State and MUTCD policies and procedures
- Improve overall safety culture and engage employees and management by promoting positive accomplishments
- Encourage proactive reporting culture and oversee root cause analysis and completion of corrective actions
- Perform site safety inspections and review closure of unsafe conditions
- Provide technical safety support and assistance to project managers and regional safety managers as needed
- Coordinate accident investigations and follow up measures
- Coordinate and perform specialized training
- Complete safety narratives for proposals as needed
