Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or four-year equivalent preferred
  • 5+ years experience in heavy civil construction safety management
  • Current OSHA 30-hour certification in Construction
  • NYC DOB SST 62-hour or equivalent certification
  • NYC DOB 40-hour Site Safety Manager Course completion
  • Certification in SSPC/AMPP C-3/C-5 Competent Person Lead Removal
  • NYS DOL Asbestos Inspector License
  • MTA NYCT Track Training Certification
  • Previous MTA experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong leadership and communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or four-year equivalent in health and safety, environmental health, science, or related field preferred but not required
  • 5+ years experience in heavy civil construction with safety management responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of safety and environmental principles
  • Ability to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Current safety training including OSHA 30-hour in Construction, NYC DOB SST 62-hour, NYC DOB 40-hour Site Safety Manager Course, SSPC/AMPP C-3/C-5 Competent Person Lead Removal, NYS DOL Asbestos Inspector License, MTA NYCT Track Training Certification
  • Previous MTA experience required

Job Duties

  • Develop site specific safety programs
  • Direct and oversee the day-to-day activities of multiple site safety coordinators
  • Maintain ongoing training and mentoring of site safety coordinators
  • Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new employees
  • Attend initial meetings with project staff and subcontractor representatives to define safety roles
  • Conduct regular weekly safety meetings with project staff
  • Review subcontractors safety programs for compliance
  • Conduct daily jobsite inspections and safety training briefings
  • Conduct formal weekly jobsite inspections and complete safety checklists
  • Record and report safety violations and enforce immediate corrective actions
  • Assist project superintendent in implementing safety procedures including evacuation and fire control
  • Investigate all incidents and generate reports
  • Establish and maintain job safety records
  • Assist claims manager in claims management
  • Attend project staff meetings to discuss safety issues and project progress
