Job Requirements
- must be able to walk long distances and climb vertical ladders up to 60 feet
 - capable of climbing stairways and ladders to visit all plant areas
 - able to navigate uneven surfaces and communicate effectively with employees and managers
 - able to work in a hot, dusty environment
 - standing and walking frequently up to 75% of the time
 - sitting frequently up to 75% of the time
 - climbing occasionally up to 15% of work time
 - lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally up to 10% of work time
 - must be willing to travel 10-20% of the time for meetings, education, seminars and internal audits
 - must be bilingual in English and Spanish
 
Job Qualifications
- bachelor of science degree in safety and health, engineering or a related technical field
 - minimum of seven years experience in manufacturing safety management
 - experience in mining operations preferred
 - detailed working knowledge of MSHA and/or OSHA regulations, policies and procedures
 - strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and email proficiency
 - analytical and strategic planning capabilities
 - effective team leadership and participation
 - excellent oral and written communication skills
 - bilingual in English and Spanish
 
Job Duties
- Review and interpret health, safety and environmental laws, rules and regulations
 - develop, implement and monitor training programs including new miner, newly hired experienced miner, task, annual refresher and hazard communication
 - develop, implement and monitor site inspections and corrective action programs
 - coordinate accident investigations and reports
 - conduct workers' compensation related accident investigations
 - collect and distribute safety statistical information for the facility and governmental agencies
 - write policies to ensure compliance with governing agencies
 - administer substance abuse testing programs
 - maintain accurate records and reports
