Job Requirements
- Verification of work authorization and employment eligibility
- Successful completion of substance abuse screening
- Physical exam if applicable
- Background checks for badging and security clearances if applicable
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently
- Ability to periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger type
- Capability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps
- Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling
- Visual acuity and certified ability to operate a vehicle
- Willingness to work in varying temperatures and noisy outdoor environments
Job Qualifications
- A 4-year degree preferred, occupational safety and health degree suggested
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety on commercial construction projects recommended
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification suggested
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient with computer software including Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel templates, Prolog, Primavera, and AutoDesk Suite
Job Duties
- Effectively communicate with various stakeholders including project owners, insurance carriers, Hensel Phelps staff, craft and trade partners
- Attend owner meetings and work with their safety representatives as necessary
- Enhance safety culture through participation in executive safety culture charrettes and assisting the craft safety committee
- Assist project team with safety start-up, program development, implementation, and management
- Work with project team to create and manage the safety budget and anticipate necessary safety supplies for employees
- Oversee the safety point file system and documentation and maintain project statistical data
- Participate in the six-step quality control and safety process including activity hazard analyses and follow-up inspections
- Conduct project safety training and assist in developing the project safety training schedule
- Lead the development and implementation of the project’s SAFE program
- Analyze project safety trends and implement initiatives to address unsafe trends
- Conduct project safety audits and assist in team audits
- Perform personnel evaluation and development
- Apply knowledge of construction processes and roles of all project positions
