Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Management, Environmental Health, or related field or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of safety management experience preferably in maritime terminal or heavy industrial environments
- strong knowledge of OSHA regulations training standards and compliance practices
- effective written and verbal communication skills
- proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word Excel and PowerPoint
- ability to learn terminal-specific software platforms
- ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential TWIC
- strong time management and organizational skills self-directed and dependable
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Management, Environmental Health, or related field or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of safety management experience, preferably in maritime, terminal, or heavy industrial environments
- strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, training standards, and compliance practices
- effective written and verbal communication skills
- proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- ability to learn terminal-specific software platforms
- ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- strong time management and organizational skills
- OSHA 30-Hour certification or other safety credentials such as CHST, CSP
- experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis
- working knowledge of safety practices in a port or marine terminal environment
Job Duties
- Promote a strong safety culture through training, communication, and accountability
- plan, schedule, and conduct safety training sessions and new hire orientations
- lead safety meetings, site inspections, and internal audits to ensure compliance
- identify workplace hazards, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to ensure resolution
- maintain training records and incident documentation
- administer and enforce the terminal's drug and alcohol testing program
- collaborate with department managers to assess and meet safety training needs
- conduct safety inspections aboard vessels, in warehouses, on the waterfront, and throughout terminal facilities in all weather conditions
