Job Requirements

  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures
  • thorough understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulations
  • proficient in using computers and Microsoft Office
  • proficient with electronic devices for safety audits and communication
  • strong organizational, record-keeping, and follow-up skills
  • ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements
  • self-motivated, proactive, and team-oriented
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to interact effectively with employees, management, vendors, and clients

Job Qualifications

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field
  • professional safety certification such as Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) or Construction Health and Safety Tech (CHST) preferred
  • 6 years of applicable safety construction experience preferred
  • combination of training, education, and relevant work experience acceptable
  • effective oral and written communication skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety audit software
  • strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • ability to interact professionally at all organizational levels

Job Duties

  • Lead daily audits of all work areas
  • provide safety expertise in response to identified deficiencies and requests for safety assistance
  • prepare professional reports and conduct safety briefings
  • resolve site safety issues and provide emergency response as needed
  • identify gaps and implement safety program elements
  • direct investigations of all injury and loss incidents
  • conduct safety training, testing, and record-keeping
  • act as safety advisor to management and customer agencies
  • manage safety program budgets and resources
  • develop and review project site safety plans
  • contribute to project start-up meetings
  • review project look aheads
  • ensure crisis management plans are implemented
  • ensure clinics and medical facilities are set up and known
  • ensure procedures are followed for lockout/tagout and first-time energization
  • review method of procedures
  • develop and participate in root cause analyses
  • manage injury case coordination
