Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Five years of experience with a safety or risk management program
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Five years of experience with a safety or risk management program
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local safety laws including OSHA regulations
  • Knowledge of Safety Management System Principles and risk management methodologies
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to interpret safety regulations and standards
  • Ability to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Manage the professional development and workflow of safety staff
  • Coordinate staff efforts in performing safety assessments, investigations, inspections, safety training and various safety efforts city-wide
  • Establish and develop safety targets and objectives, recommending safety goals, trends, statistics and equipment
  • Coordinate and manage receipt of Police Crash Reports, Commercial Insurance Property Survey schedules and Corrective Action/Preventable Action (CAPA) Program
  • Provide oversight on Accident and Injury Review Board (ARB) data and processes
  • Develop training programs for staff competency and professional knowledge
  • Conduct reviews and audits of Safety Division processes and procedures for adherence and industry best practices
  • Prepare, communicate and present safety information, trends, statistics and program developments to Department Directors
  • Interview, select, supervise, develop, evaluate, counsel and discipline personnel according to established policies and procedures
