Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • five years of experience with a safety or risk management program
  • valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License
  • ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations
  • ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, vendors, government agencies, employees, and the public
  • willingness to work in office and outdoor environments
  • eligibility to undergo pre-employment drug testing and background checks

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • five years of experience with a safety or risk management program
  • valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License
  • knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management
  • knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws related to safety, transportation, workers' compensation, liability, and OSHA regulations
  • knowledge of Safety Management System Principles and risk management methodologies
  • knowledge of accident prevention principles, practices, and procedures
  • knowledge of budget preparation and monitoring techniques
  • skill in using Microsoft Office software applications
  • skill in operating vehicles and safety testing/monitoring equipment
  • ability to interpret safety regulations and standards
  • ability to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures
  • ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people

Job Duties

  • Manage the professional development and workflow of safety staff
  • coordinate staff efforts in performing safety assessments, investigations, inspections, and safety training
  • establish and develop safety targets and objectives
  • coordinate and manage receipt of Police Crash Reports, Commercial Insurance Property Survey schedules, and Corrective Action/Preventable Action (CAPA) Program
  • provide oversight on Accident and Injury Review Board (ARB) data and processes
  • develop training programs to sustain staff industry competency and professional knowledge
  • prepare, communicate and present safety information, trends, statistics, assessments, and program developments to Department Directors
