Job Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and productively with others
  • Ability to manage other safety personnel on the project
  • Good working understanding of OSHA related to mission critical projects
  • Experience ensuring compliance to National Electrical Code NFPA 70E
  • Experience in mission critical environment setting and industry standards
  • Knowledge of Control of Hazardous Energy in complex mission critical infrastructures
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation such as blueprints, electrical one-lines, and construction drawings
  • Good working knowledge of workers’ compensation and claims management
  • Good working knowledge of third-party contractor management databases such as ISN and Avetta
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Good written communication skills
  • Bilingual Spanish and English a plus
  • Demonstrates leadership
  • Initiative and self-starter attitude
  • Board-certified safety credential from a nationally recognized organization such as CSP, GSP, CIH, ASP, or CHST
  • 3 to 5 years construction safety management experience or Current OSHA 500 Certification and six years full-time construction safety management experience
  • Current First Aid CPR AED Certification from a nationally recognized organization
  • Master's or bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, risk management, electrical engineering or related degree preferred
  • Ability to temporarily relocate to project location.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in occupational safety and health, risk management, electrical engineering or related field preferred
  • Board-certified safety credential such as CSP, GSP, CIH, ASP, CHST with 3 to 5 years construction safety management experience or current OSHA 500 certification with six years full-time construction safety management experience
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations related to mission critical projects
  • Experience with National Electrical Code NFPA 70E compliance
  • Experience in mission critical environment settings and industry standards
  • Knowledge of Control of Hazardous Energy in complex infrastructures
  • Familiarity with construction techniques, terminology, blueprints, electrical one-lines, and construction drawings

Job Duties

  • Interface closely with Mission Critical Campus General Superintendent, project Field Managers and lead the safety program across all construction activities on a mission critical campus
  • Serve as technical advisor to Safety Professionals, Field Supervision and Subcontractors
  • Contribute to the safety and health program management, design and continual improvement
  • Monitor campus construction activities and advise management on compliance with applicable regulatory rules, regulations and/or laws
  • Assist with the company safety training curriculum including development of training courses and teaching training sessions
  • Assist project Energy Marshall to ensure overall campus compliance of the LOTO program
  • Provide consistency and drive rigor into the LOTO program to ensure the program meets or exceeds company safety policy requirements
  • Utilize local code and standards as the foundation for the energy isolation program implemented throughout the campus
  • Coordinate with project Energy Marshall, Engineering, Commissioning and Subcontractor Team Members to establish a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure
  • Commence energy isolation activities with continuous updates
  • Inform Ryan Field Managers and Project Management team where LOTO activities may impact data center core operations
  • Participate in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings
  • Assist in the review of high-risk statements of work (SOWs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and method of procedures (MOPs)
  • Ensure verification of qualifications, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personnel
  • Direct and assist in investigation of serious accidents, major property damage and incidents with the public
  • Analyze investigative data and assist in preventive measures development
  • Assist in collection and review of accident and near miss root cause analysis investigations
  • Assist with claims management including Workers’ Compensation, property, general liability, and auto insurance
  • Report all claims to Claims Administrator, Corporate Safety Director and Mission Critical Safety Director
  • Coordinate return-to-work
  • Attend and provide feedback at claim review meetings with insurance carriers
  • Assist with light-duty job descriptions
  • Maintain statistical data for accidents and assist in preparation and submittal of accident reports
  • Disseminate materials for safety training and program development
  • Compile and distribute statistical reports on safety performance, accident costs, and OSHA fines
  • Develop databases for data analytics supporting zero incident initiatives
  • Participate in Corporate and project Safety Committees
  • Conduct safety and health program evaluations and regular safety inspections
  • Provide training and technical support on safety topics
  • Implement company drug and alcohol testing programs
  • Administer medical treatment coordination for injured workers
  • Interface with OSHA during compliance inspections
  • Coordinate OSHA Consultation visits, and participate in OSHA fines and citation meetings.
