Job Requirements

  • Must possess at least a high school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Minimum five years of experience in construction safety preferably in telecommunications or electrical industry
  • Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA State Plans
  • Familiarity with Confined Space Entry Standards 1926.1200 Subpart AA preferred
  • CHST certification or equivalent preferred
  • Current Authorized OSHA OTI 500 Construction Outreach Trainer or other relevant safety training certificates preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, management, and clients
  • Ability to respond quickly in safety emergency situations
  • Must meet company driving standards
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

Job Qualifications

  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency
  • An associate's degree or higher preferred
  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years' experience in construction safety, preferably in the telecommunications or electrical industry
  • Knowledge of the OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA State Plans
  • Knowledge and experience with the Confined Space Entry Standards 1926.1200 Subpart AA preferred
  • CHST (Construction Health/Safety Technician) Certification or equivalent is preferred
  • Current Authorized OSHA OTI 500 Construction Outreach Trainer and/or other applicable safety training certificates/programs may be considered
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer knowledge and experience utilizing MS Office (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Must be detail-oriented with high level organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders including field personnel, IES management and Client interfaces
  • Ability to respond as needed in support of all safety emergency situations with or without advance notice
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards
  • Must have proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously

Job Duties

  • Fully support all IES and Client safety policies, procedures, and programs and federal and state standards
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with IES Safety Policies, Procedures and Programs, including Client Specific Policies, Procedures and Programs
  • Support and provide guidance for operations in development of an action plan for any branch, office or project within their region not meeting safety goals and expectations
  • Perform safety presentations and develop safety presentations and related training as required
  • Schedule and coordinate safety audits/inspections to determine compliance with all IES and Client safety policies, procedures, and programs and federal, state safety standards
  • Conduct or direct activities aimed at identifying potential hazards and developing safety action plans to correct any non-compliance issues and work with operations and management for implementation
  • Assist in the development of processes and plans to reduce or eliminate hazards and safety incidents
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training for management in accident prevention techniques, compliance with IES safety policies, procedures and programs and federal and state standards
  • As needed, prepare written reports and summaries to provide concise, meaningful information regarding safety audits, investigations and issues
  • Conduct and coordinate investigations for incidents, including but not limited to near miss, equipment and vehicle incidents
  • Utilize cause analysis techniques to assist operations to identify and implement potential corrective actions to help prevent future recurrence of similar incidents
  • Establish committees & meetings to establish communication within the assigned area
  • Notify the Regional Safety Manager of injuries, (all) incidents and OSHA activity within their area of responsibility
  • Provide guidance to their local resources and be (physically) present whenever reasonably feasible
  • Prepare and maintain safety related records and reports
  • including but not limited to OSHA 300 logs and incident data for their area and/or assigned client
  • Teach, counsel and mentor all stakeholders to uphold the IES Safety Culture
  • Participate in the hiring and managing of site safety coordinators
  • Participate in claims reviews for incidents within their region and company, as needed
  • Travel as required for business needs
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
