Job Requirements

  • Five years of experience in aviation operations and/or safety and risk
  • Ability to interpret Federal Aviation Administration safety regulations
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including off-shift and snow operations
  • Ability to work in office and high noise active airfield environments
  • Washington State residency within 30 days of employment
  • Compliance with work rules, safety standards, and use of personal protective equipment
  • Successful completion of TSA and FBI background checks
  • Obtain Port of Seattle ID badge and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Customs Seal within 30 days

Job Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in aviation operations and/or safety and risk
  • Associate's Degree in Aviation preferred
  • Airport Certified Employee Safety Management Systems certification desired
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with diverse internal and external partners
  • Capability to present concepts to large audiences and industry groups
  • Knowledge of risk and safety management constructs and application
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Job Duties

  • Monitor and interpret changes in FAA Safety Management System advisory circulars and evaluate impacts to the airport
  • Develop and monitor long and short-term safety program plans including risk identification, budget tracking, and schedule adjustments
  • Identify safety trends and patterns to improve airfield safety performance and set key performance indicators
  • Create detailed management reports and weekly safety dashboards to track KPIs and support Aviation Division goals
  • Produce and distribute safety documentation and communicate with stakeholders for understanding and buy-in
  • Administer the Veoci SMS data management platform, Office 365 SharePoint, and MS Teams, providing support to department members
  • Identify, plan, and implement mitigations to improve quality, reduce costs, increase productivity, and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Participate in industry groups, committees, and external agency collaborations representing the Port
