Job Requirements

  • education equivalent to high school diploma or higher
  • prior experience in maritime or safety-related roles
  • familiarity with compliance and regulatory standards
  • strong attention to detail
  • good written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • proficiency in computer software applications related to safety management

Job Duties

  • develop and implement safety programs
  • create and manage health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • assist SQE Director compiling data for safety team meetings
  • assist SQE Director compiling data for management review meetings
  • develop and draft new SMS procedures, forms, and documentation
  • coordinate drug testing program for random, post-incident, and reasonable cause testing
  • manage safety incentive program
  • review, track, and trend claims, casualty reports, injury reports, near miss reports, and non-conformance reports
  • develop and draft GIM, engineering bulletins, lessons learned reports, safety findings, and safety line newsletter
  • attend inspections and audits
  • support scheduling and coordination of internal and external audits and inspections
  • attend internal and external audits as directed
  • analyze accidents, near misses, and safety incidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures
  • assist with close-out of non-conformities and audit findings
  • maintain safety department records
  • keep accurate and organized records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incidents
  • monitor and track safety metrics
  • support onboarding and orientation for new personnel on SMS and Keystone quality system
  • promote safety culture
  • ensure regulatory compliance
  • assist as directed in the operations department
