Job Requirements

  • advanced knowledge of OSHA standards
  • ability to effectively collaborate with Operations and balance safety with business needs
  • excellent communication and computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • strong verbal presentation and facilitation skills
  • aptitude for technology
  • ability to work effectively with management and floor associates
  • willingness to grow within Safety & Health field including seeking additional training and certifications
  • willingness to work occasionally outside of core hours
  • ability to frequently stand and walk around facility
  • demonstrated success collaborating with Operations Employees to resolve issues with effective solutions

Job Qualifications

  • associates degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in a safety related role
  • manufacturing experience preferred
  • currently hold one or more certifications such as BCSP Advanced Safety Certificate, OSHA 30 Hour, or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician Certification (OHST)
  • ability to gain certification to be considered an authorized person for specific OSHA service, maintenance, and inspection requirements
  • willingness to expand certifications and knowledge as site program needs dictate

Job Duties

  • design and implement Safety & Health related education, communication, and training including new employee orientation, safety committee meetings, safety alerts
  • analyze and present Safety and Health related data using software systems such as Origami, iAuditor and PowerBI
  • act as a subject matter expert for federal, state, and enterprise safety & health compliance including maintenance of applicable files, documents, and records
  • engage daily in Safety & Health activities at a manufacturing site to comply with all applicable regulations and company processes and procedures
  • handle complex and multi-jurisdictional safety guidance and compliance standards from NFPA, NEC, ANSI, NIOSH, and OSHA
  • champion all Safety & Health activities within the facility by collaborating with employees and management to improve safety
  • maintain local Safety & Health policies and procedures adhering to enterprise-level materials
  • maintain employee records documenting certifications or licenses obtained, completion of training, and other employee records related to Safety & Health
  • drive and maintain facility readiness for internal and external audits
  • lead self-assessment Safety & Health audits including documenting findings and producing reports
  • test and service safety equipment and systems
  • advocate and lead the use of control hierarchy such as engineering and administrative controls to minimize safety hazards
  • manage local Safety & Health teams such as Safety Committee and Ergonomics Team
  • provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced EHS team members
