Job Requirements

  • Diploma or some college education or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Must have current and valid Food Handler's card and other certifications required by the State of Texas
  • Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Preferably WSET certified and/or Court of Master Sommelier certifications
  • Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Must be able to prioritize, organize, and follow-up
  • Ability to think clearly, remain calm, and resolve problems using good judgment
  • Must follow directions thoroughly and understand guest service needs
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data
  • Required to speak, read, and write English
  • Fluency in other languages preferred
  • Physical ability to endure various physical movements, reach up and down, remain stationary at times, lift up to 50 pounds, and communicate satisfactorily with guests and co-workers

Job Duties

  • Ensure the delivery of brand promises, supporting the implementation of Relationship Hospitality, demonstrating and reinforcing company values and culture
  • Exercise responsible behavior and positively represent the restaurant team and hotel
  • Maintain high personal standards of presentation and grooming
  • Comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
  • Recommend and sell wines and other beverages to guests, promoting digestives
  • Conduct wine education classes and train front-of-house staff in wine knowledge and wine matching
  • Manage monthly stock control and inventory, update stock forms continuously
  • Maintain and update wine and beverage lists, ensure wines of critical age are sold, and pricing is current
  • Greet guests, handle comments and problems, and promote sales to meet forecasted revenues
  • Engage with guests to maintain good relations and offer personalized service
  • Manage requisition and stock levels
  • Maintain knowledge of POS and manual systems
  • Anticipate guests' needs and respond promptly
  • Handle guest complaints following the established procedure to ensure satisfaction
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of service areas
  • Prepare for shifts, manage deliveries, ensure clean glasses and decanters availability
  • Support the service team by running food, bussing tables, resetting tables
  • Follow opening and closing service procedures and complete checklists accurately
  • Enter guest wine preferences and update client profiles in the system
  • Ensure wines are served at correct temperature and faultless condition
  • Curate all wine lists under guidance and assist with beverage menu engineering
  • Engage with executive chefs for menu and wine list relevance
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors
  • Supervise wine stock levels, stock movements, and recommend actions
  • Deliver and facilitate wine training classes
  • Participate in wine-related projects and tastings
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company, guest, and associate information
  • Comply with company policies and act as a brand ambassador
  • Adapt working hours and attitude according to hotel business needs
