Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • prior culinary experience preferred
  • previous experience preparing Japanese menu items preferred
  • Food Service Sanitation certification within three months
  • ability to demonstrate basic knife skills and culinary knowledge
  • ability to maintain organization and meet deadlines
  • ability to solve practical problems
  • ability to read and interpret documents such as recipes and menus
  • ability to perform basic math calculations
  • ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise initiative
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • physical ability to perform tasks including lifting up to 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds with assistance
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • specific vision abilities including close vision and color vision
  • ability to tolerate moderate to loud noise and work in hot and cold environments

Job Qualifications

  • ability to read and interpret operating instructions, recipes, and menus
  • ability to perform basic math operations
  • ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and assist all positions within the department
  • ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
  • promote and participate in strong team efforts
  • ability to work irregular hours including late nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Prepare food menu items
  • measure and mix ingredients according to recipe
  • use a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment
  • ensure food is prepared and cooked to meet established procedures and standards
  • operate and clean all kitchen equipment safely
  • ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment
  • strive to perform duties of all positions within the kitchen
  • perform duties related to portioning, simple food prep, and simple sauces
  • perform opening and closing duties and side work as assigned
  • maintain a courteous and helpful relationship with internal and external guests
  • clean coolers, freezers, and other storage areas as assigned
  • assist to store and rotate all inventories ensuring FIFO methods
  • participate in scheduled trainings and random testing
  • work in different kitchens to gain knowledge
  • keep work areas stocked and maintained
  • assist other team members as needed
  • work at other venues as assigned
  • ensure full compliance with departmental internal controls, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • perform other duties as assigned
