Job Requirements
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Possess a valid FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter and Instrument Helicopter endorsements
- Hold a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
- Have a minimum of 2,000 hours flying time as pilot in command in helicopters
- Have at least 1,000 hours in turbine engine helicopters
- Have at least 100 hours of flying time within the last 24 months
- Be flexible to work any hours including weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, call-outs and overtime
- Be willing to work in varying climates and weather conditions
- Be a resident of the State of Arizona by starting date
- Have a valid Arizona driver license by no later than starting date
- Successfully complete the examination process
Job Qualifications
- Possession of a valid FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter and Instrument Helicopter endorsements
- Hold a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
- Minimum of 2,000 hours flying time as pilot in command in helicopters
- At least 1,000 hours must be in turbine engine helicopters
- Minimum of 100 hours flying time within the 24 months immediately prior to application
- High school diploma or GED
- U.S. citizenship
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration Regulations, Arizona Revised Statutes, Departmental General Orders, and Aviation Bureau Standard Operating Procedures
- Skill in oral and written communication
- Ability to read and interpret aviation and weather maps
Job Duties
- Operate rotary wing aircraft in support of public safety missions including surveillance, patrol, pursuit, search and rescue, medical evacuations, aerial photography, and transport of personnel
- Perform specialized maneuvers such as rappelling, one-skid landing, external load/short-haul operations, night and mountain flying
- Evaluate requests for air support and schedule flight plans
- Inspect, test, and maintain aircraft and mission-related equipment
- Perform pre- and post-flight inspections and clean aircraft and facilities
- Plan flights, load passengers, baggage, and cargo, and analyze weather conditions
- Maintain logs and records and prepare written reports
- Operate aircraft tug, tractor, and/or ground handling equipment
- Coordinate pilot training programs and maintain training records
- Assist medical personnel at emergency scenes as required
- Train pilots on safety and aviation procedures
- Serve as acting supervisor in the absence of the Senior Pilot
