Job Requirements
- U.S. citizen
- high school graduate or equivalent GED
- valid FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter and Instrument Helicopter endorsements
- current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
- minimum 2,000 hours pilot in command flight time in helicopters
- at least 1,000 hours in turbine engine helicopters
- minimum 100 hours flight time within 24 months prior to application
- resident of Arizona by start date
- valid Arizona driver license by start date
- ability to work varied hours including weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and overtime
- successful completion of examination process
Job Qualifications
- Possession of valid FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter and Instrument Helicopter endorsements
- current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
- minimum of 2,000 hours pilot in command flight time in helicopters including at least 1,000 hours in turbine engine helicopters
- minimum 100 hours flight time within 24 months prior to application
- knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration Regulations and Arizona Revised Statutes
- experience in supervised aviation operations and safety procedures
- proficiency in flight planning and emergency procedures
- strong communication and leadership abilities
Job Duties
- Operate rotary wing aircraft in support of public safety missions including surveillance and search and rescue
- perform specialized maneuvers such as rappelling and one-skid landing
- evaluate requests for air support and schedule flight plans
- inspect, test and maintain aircraft and mission-related equipment
- perform pre- and post-flight inspections
- plan flights and analyze weather conditions
- maintain logs and records and prepare written reports
- operate ground handling equipment and coordinate pilot training programs
- assist medical personnel at emergency scenes
- serve as acting supervisor in absence of senior pilot
