Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of progressive hotel or related field experience or a 4-year college degree with at least 1 year of related experience or a 2-year college degree with 2 or more years of related experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Proficient in Windows, spreadsheets, and word processing
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Effective listening and problem-solving capabilities
  • Attend required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in Manager On Duty coverage
  • Maintain regular attendance per scheduling
  • Maintain high standards of appearance and grooming
  • Comply with company standards and safety regulations
  • Ability to handle problems effectively
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to perform other duties as required
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.

Job Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience or a 2-year college degree and 2 or more years of related experience

  • Effective listening and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Attend all hotel-required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in Manager On Duty coverage as required
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance, grooming, and nametag wearing
  • Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations
  • Effective in identifying and implementing solutions to problem areas
  • Able to understand and evaluate complex information and maintain confidentiality
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.

Job Duties

  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and employees at all times
  • Respond to all guest requests, problems, complaints, or accidents in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline all Rooms Division personnel according to Highgate Hotel SOPs
  • Assist in preparing and conducting all Rooms Division interviews and hiring procedures and support Human Resources recruiting efforts
  • Develop employee morale and ensure training of Rooms Division personnel
  • Maintain professional working relationships and open communication with managers, employees, and other departments
  • Ensure implementation of all Highgate Hotel policies, house rules, and service standards
  • Monitor oversold dates to maximize room revenue
  • Tour Rooms operating departments daily, greeting employees and soliciting feedback
  • Assist in maximizing room revenue and occupancy by reviewing daily status and analyzing rate variance
  • Attend daily and monthly Rooms Merchandizing meetings and assist in completing the monthly reforecast
  • Monitor and support the corporate Guest Recognition Program
  • Monitor expenses to ensure expense control and maximize profit
  • Conduct walk-throughs of public areas and guestrooms to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards
  • Perform Rooms Managers’ performance reviews and ensure compliance with standards
  • Monitor labor expenses through schedule approval process to ensure budgeted productivity
  • Prepare department heads for succession through development
  • Operate all aspects of the Front Office computer system and monitor proper operation of the PBX console
  • Coordinate implementation of the Highgate Hotel philosophy of service
  • Be knowledgeable of corporate marketing programs and ensure staff understanding
  • Monitor VIPs, special guests, and requests
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
