Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior relevant experience required

  • knowledge of cleaning techniques and chemical handling
  • fluency in English both verbal and written
  • ability to perform basic mathematical calculations

  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • ability to assess and provide staff training
  • strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • proficiency in using property management software
  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • physical ability to move, bend, lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds
  • ability to stand or walk for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Work alongside guest service agents to ensure the accurate completion of shift checklists
  • assist in the ongoing training and development of team members to increase productivity and guest service effectiveness
  • identify strengths and weaknesses and recognize teachable moments
  • give arriving guests a verbal orientation of hotel amenities and history
  • answer all internal and external phone calls promptly and accurately
  • promote teamwork and quality service through daily communications and coordination with other departments
  • notify sales of any possible group or event inquiries or bookings
  • book guest reservations for individuals and groups according to established standards
  • up-sell rooms to maximize hotel average room rate using yield management strategies
  • process cancellations, revisions, and updates in the reservations system
  • assist in updating and completing guest profiles
  • review arriving and departing guest profiles and research pertinent information or preferences
  • build authentic rapport with all guests recognizing repeat business
  • provide accurate information about the city and local attractions
  • stay abreast of current rates and promotions and assist in rooms forecasting
  • respond appropriately to guest complaints and make service recovery gestures
  • take ownership of the front office zone ensuring cleanliness and organization
  • foster a pleasant work environment leading by example
  • ensure all internal correspondence is current and accurate
  • act as co-concierge providing local information and concierge services
  • follow and provide input on property-specific standard operating procedures
  • learn to process travel agent commissions and online travel agency reconciliations
  • know fire and emergency procedures
  • ensure adherence to cash handling and credit policies
  • follow key control policy
  • monitor room availability throughout shifts
  • build strong working relationships with counterparts at competitor hotels
  • supervise staff to ensure daily procedures are performed to standards
  • prepare and distribute assignment sheets
  • inspect guest rooms, corridors, public areas, and service areas
  • assist staff to ensure cleanliness and service standards
  • respond to tasks assigned by managers
  • aid guests in locating hotel areas
  • be familiar with parking validation
  • follow safety and security policies
  • maintain a clean uniform and professional appearance
  • develop positive working relationships
  • identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost savings
  • perform duties in other departments including housekeeping shifts as needed
