Job Requirements

  • Ability to obtain Deschutes County Food Handlers Card within 2 weeks of hire
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to stand and walk for 75% or more of the time
  • Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull loads ranging from 1 to 50 pounds at varying frequencies
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and use ladder occasionally
  • Clear and audible speaking voice and ability to hear normal speech levels
  • Willingness to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred but equivalent education and experience accepted
  • Previous customer service or food service experience preferred
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety practices desirable
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism

Job Duties

  • Participates in assembling patient trays to meet diet orders and patient requests
  • Delivers trays timely to patient rooms verifying order accuracy using Double Patient Identifier
  • Notifies nursing staff of patient safety precautions related to aspiration or other safety needs
  • Follows all isolation precautions during food delivery
  • Provides high-level customer service and ensures patient satisfaction with meals
  • Maintains knowledge of therapeutic diets and dietary restrictions
  • Stocks food supply areas on assigned floors
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas and equipment
  • Handles food properly following HACCP guidelines
  • Supports other food service operations as directed
  • Promotes a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests
  • Adheres to confidentiality, legal, and ethical standards in all tasks
  • Assists with continuous improvement initiatives within the department
