Job Requirements
- Reading, writing, and mathematical skills
- One to two years of related food service or nutrition experience
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Friendly customer service attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines when working with cleaning chemicals
- Ability to learn and work with business computer software and point of sale systems
- Food handlers card required within 30 days of hire for Banner Staffing Services team members
- Ability to pass food handling certification tests
- Open availability including weekends and holidays
- Ability to work evening shifts starting between 6am and 8pm
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience in nutrition services or food service strongly preferred
- Understanding of common modified diets and portion measures
- Skills in effective interpersonal communication and customer service
- Ability to learn food handling regulations and use business computer software
- Knowledge of sanitation and food safety standards
- Bilingual skills preferred in some assignments
- Additional related education or experience preferred
Job Duties
- Visit patients to obtain or discuss menu selections based on dietary orders
- Enter or record daily patient meal selections and preferences for one or more patient units
- Demonstrate appropriate judgment with modified diets and food menu knowledge
- Request assistance from Diet Tech or Dietitian when necessary
- Provide patient meal service including setting up tray work stations and assembling trays
- Deliver and serve meals while accommodating special requests, snacks, and nourishments
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve complaints effectively
- Maintain food handling and sanitation standards to meet licensing requirements
- Interact with patients, families, food service staff, nursing staff, dietetic technicians, and dietitians
- Follow work routines and maintain dietary, food quality, and sanitation standards
- Resolve minor problems with patient menus and trays
