Job Requirements

  • Reading, writing and mathematical skills
  • One to two years of related experience in nutrition services preferred
  • Possession of food handlers card within 30 days of hire for Banner Staffing Services team members except in Tucson and Colorado
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Friendly customer service attitude
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines
  • Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
  • Ability to work on feet for 90 percent of the day

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • Knowledge of nutrition services and common modified diets
  • Experience in customer service
  • Ability to use business computer software and point-of-sale systems
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and instructions for handling cleaning chemicals

Job Duties

  • Visit patients to obtain or discuss menu selections based upon dietary orders
  • Enter or record all daily patient meal selections and preferences
  • Demonstrate appropriate judgment with modified diets and menu knowledge
  • Request Dietetic Technician or Dietitian assistance when necessary
  • Provide patient meal service including tray setup, food preparation or portioning, and assembling trays
  • Deliver and serve meals while addressing special requests and snacks
  • Maintain food handling and sanitation standards to meet licensing agency requirements
