Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Card
  • Must possess the knowledge and abilities essential to successful performance
  • Ability to set and deliver quality meal service on time, hot, and according to hospital standards
  • Must be fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking
  • Must exhibit a professional attitude
  • Must be well-versed in hospitality, attention to detail, and quality control
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend constantly
  • Ability to lift and carry food service trays
  • Employment subject to criminal background check and pre-employment physical

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of professional experience in quality food or hospitality service or institutional food service role
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler's Card
  • Proven food and beverage knowledge
  • Thorough knowledge of quality food service techniques and standards
  • Fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking
  • Professional attitude with attention to detail and quality control
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Degree in Nutrition or related field preferred
  • Training in food and/or hospitality services preferred
  • Room service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Obtain and honor patient food selections and preferences
  • Deliver meals, snacks, and beverages in a timely and professional manner
  • Follow appropriate patient identification procedures and diet orders accurately
  • Utilize food service ordering software and technology proficiently
  • Independently manage time and respond to patient telephone requests promptly
  • Handle concerns related to meal service, verify order accuracy and quality of presentation
  • Provide solutions through service recovery to meet and exceed patient expectations
