Job Requirements

  • Active SafeStaff Certification required within 30 days of hire
  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience with food service preferred
  • Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation protocols
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
  • Must maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience with food service highly preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of Spanish is helpful
  • Familiarity with safety and regulatory guidelines for food safety
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions to complete repetitive tasks
  • Proficiency in using food service equipment such as microwaves, blenders, thermometers, refrigerators, patient food carts, and scales
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Positive, friendly, and enthusiastic customer service approach
  • Ability to learn quickly and maintain knowledge of products and procedures
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate foods for patients
  • Ability to monitor patient allergies and take proper steps
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and guest information in compliance with HIPAA

Job Duties

  • Greet customers warmly and professionally with a customer comes first attitude
  • Verbally verify patient identity using meal tray ticket for accurate tray delivery
  • Assemble trays according to service tickets, portion sizes, and dietary restrictions
  • Deliver patient trays within 60 minutes to nursing units and assigned areas
  • Prepare diabetic and eating disorder meals as prescribed by dietitians
  • Stock, restock, rotate, and store food and supplies following FIFO method
  • Follow safety and security policies to ensure a safe work environment
  • Maintain calm demeanor during high volume periods to ensure smooth operations
  • Follow sanitation regulations including hand hygiene protocols and temperature audits
  • Maintain clean and organized workstation at all times
  • Perform quality assurance on trays checking temperature, portions, and presentation
  • Supply nursing units with nourishments and supplies for storage
  • Cover positions to support coworkers during breaks
  • Report customer complaints, hazards, accidents, and operational inconsistencies to the leader on duty
