Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • four to six months housekeeping experience or training preferred but not required
  • ability to understand, read, write, and speak basic English
  • ability to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
  • ability to comply in standardized situations
  • ability to work flexible shifts
  • ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • good vision including close, distance, and color vision
  • ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, climb, balance, talk, and hear regularly
  • ability to work in mentally and physically stressful situations

Job Duties

  • Sorts, counts, folds, marks, or carries linens
  • cleans multiple guest rooms daily including changing linens, making beds, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, and polishing furniture and fixtures
  • replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies
  • cleans corridors and stairways
  • sweeps and scrubs bathroom floors
  • cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
  • dusts furniture and washes walls, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills
  • empties wastebaskets and cleans ashtrays
  • transports trash and waste to disposal area
  • replenishes bathroom supplies and replaces light bulbs
  • scrubs bathroom vanity, toilet, mirrors, walls, and bathroom fans
  • completes quality checks on television, telephone, AC, and smoke detectors
  • removes items left behind and follows Lost and Found procedures
  • reports maintenance problems through proper communication channels
  • uses supplies and equipment carefully
  • wears proper uniform at all times
  • achieves 90 percent or higher on room inspections
  • greets guests pleasantly
  • demonstrates thorough knowledge of in-house products and local information
  • organizes cart and timeliness in restocking
  • keeps commercial areas clean and neat
  • responds promptly to housekeeping supply requests
  • uses guest names when entering occupied rooms
  • checks vacant rooms daily for correct status
  • maintains supply room organization
  • displays teamwork and assists co-workers
