Job Requirements

  • Less than high school education
  • Up to six months related experience or training
  • Ability to read limited two- and three-syllable words
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Ability to recognize situations requiring supervisory attention
  • Ability to use reasonable care for guest safety and security
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and operate hand tools including vacuum cleaners
  • Willingness to follow hotel policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Less than high school education or up to six months related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests and staff
  • Basic problem-solving skills to handle routine situations
  • Ability to follow work safety procedures and housekeeping standards

Job Duties

  • Clean, dust, wax, scrub, polish and service guest rooms daily in accordance with hotel procedures
  • Stock cart with guest room supplies at beginning of shift
  • Greet guests with a polite 'Good Morning' or appropriate greeting
  • Replace linens on beds and replenish guest room supplies
  • Empty wastebaskets and clean ashtrays
  • Rearrange furnishings, drapes, and room accessories to uniform standards
  • Provide linens and amenities according to the guest room legend
  • Secure rooms by closing and locking doors after cleaning
  • Report damages, hazards, repairs, and strangers in assigned areas
  • Return lost and found items to housekeeping with proper documentation
  • Manage keys signed out during the shift
  • Clean corridors and service areas
  • Respond to housekeeping management requests or projects
  • Replace light bulbs as necessary
  • Restock cart and organize linen closet at end of shift
  • Perform other housekeeping duties as assigned
