Job Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products and operation of standard cleaning equipment
  • Must have vision ability to see minute debris and dirt in poorly lit areas, and to read written instructions and computer print-outs
  • Must have upper body strength to lift up to 50lbs continually throughout an 8 hour shift
  • Must have finger, hand and upper body dexterity to push, pull and move levers, equipment and furniture throughout 8 hour shift
  • Must be able to work with arms raised above head throughout an 8 hour shift
  • Must be able to maneuver fully loaded maid cart weighing up to 50lbs throughout entire work day
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or cleaning standards
  • Experience operating basic residential cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaning equipment
  • Ability to perform prolonged strenuous physical activity in indoor climate-controlled environment
  • Ability to endure excessive heat and humidity in laundry
  • Must be passionate about people and service
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Must have reading and writing abilities
  • Must have problem-solving and reasoning abilities
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or secondary qualification or equivalent
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or similar cleaning standards
  • Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles and use of cleaning products
  • Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment including vacuums and floor buffers
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with guests and employees
  • Ability to read and write to complete paperwork and log issues
  • Problem-solving and reasoning abilities
  • Motivational and training skills

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Job Duties

  • Retrieves items from shelves and storerooms, sets up cleaning cart with supplies, constantly maintaining carts and storerooms in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets and fixtures in rooms, public areas and hallways using ladders or stools when necessary
  • Washes shower walls and tub, cleans toilets and stall walls, wipes exposed pipes, cleans mirrors, sinks and walls to maintain sanitary restrooms
  • Replaces towels, soaps, and all room amenities, restocking literature that is removed or soiled
  • Washes all hard floor areas by hand to remove dirt and soiled spots
  • Dusts and polishes furniture, fixtures, and wall hangings, including vents and ceiling corners
  • Strips and remakes beds with fresh linen, checking all bedding for cleanliness and replacing if necessary
  • Checks closets, wipes closet door and shelves, restocking supplies like hangers, blankets, and pillows
  • Vacuums rooms, public areas and hallways, including underneath furniture and hard-to-reach spots
  • Inspects all door and window locks to ensure safety and security, promptly alerts management to issues
  • Checks all room equipment such as TVs, lamps, faucets, radios to ensure proper working order, reports deficiencies
  • Secures equipment, keys, and supplies to protect hotel property
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times
  • Assists laundry department by retrieving and sorting soiled linen, using industrial washers, dryers and pressers
  • Cleans patio/balcony areas by sweeping, hosing floors, wiping furniture and fixtures, and picking up garbage
  • Provides assistance to other employees and departments to contribute to overall hotel performance
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
