Job Description

Sonesta International Hotels is the 8th largest hotel company in the United States and is rapidly expanding its footprint. The company operates an exceptional blend of full-service and focused hotels across major cities, encompassing a uniquely diverse portfolio that includes owned, managed, and franchised properties. This strategic diversity allows Sonesta to be present in more places where guests want to stay, providing convenience and choice. Rooted deeply in the human side of hospitality, Sonesta prioritizes delivering service with passion, fostering loyalty with purpose, and creating memorable experiences that truly connect with guests. Across more than 1,000 properties in eight countries, Sonesta continues to build its reputation on quality, value, and outstanding hospitality, positioning itself as a leader in the global lodging industry.\n\nThe role of the Room Attendant (RA) at Sonesta International Hotels is essential to maintaining the high standards the company upholds. Working alongside the Housekeeping Management Team, the Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning guest rooms and public spaces efficiently and thoroughly, adhering to established product, timing, and placement standards. The goal is to ensure total guest satisfaction by providing immaculate rooms and clean public areas that reflect the Sonesta brand's commitment to excellence.\n\nThis involves a variety of detailed tasks including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing bathrooms, removing trash, and may extend to cleaning kitchenettes within extended-stay rooms such as refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, and dishware. The Room Attendant also monitors laundry supplies and equipment when assigned to laundry duties, operating washers and dryers according to hotel and manufacturer guidelines to ensure cleanliness and freshness of linens. Keeping track of damaged or stained items and reporting these to supervisors is also an important part of the role.\n\nThe position requires excellent communication skills to respond promptly and professionally to guest requests or complaints and to ensure corrective action is taken immediately. Room Attendants promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other housekeepers, shifts, and management. Safety compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations in housekeeping operations is mandatory. The RA may also assist regularly with deep cleaning projects and is expected to report any needed repairs or unsafe conditions. Lost and found items are handled according to established protocols, emphasizing the role's contribution to the holistic guest experience.\n\nThe role is physically demanding, requiring frequent standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and lifting or pulling objects up to 75 pounds. The Room Attendant works indoors, regularly using commercial cleaning chemicals and must be able to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Fluency in English is preferred, with other languages considered a plus. Although some previous housekeeping experience and familiarity with the extended stay industry are preferred, Sonesta provides an environment supportive of learning and growth. This is a vital position for those who take pride in contributing to positive guest experiences, working in a dynamic and reputable hotel company. The employment type is full-time, and while the exact salary is not specified, competitive pay aligned with industry standards is expected. Sonesta also offers a comprehensive benefits package to support employee health, financial security, and overall well-being.
