Job Requirements

  • Less than high school education
  • up to six months related experience or training
  • ability to read limited two- and three-syllable words
  • ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • ability to speak English
  • capable of recognizing situations needing supervisory attention
  • physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
  • able to operate cleaning tools and equipment
  • willingness to work with cleaning fluids and solvents

Job Qualifications

  • Less than high school education or up to six months related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read simple two- and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and numbers
  • ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions
  • ability to speak English to communicate effectively with guests
  • able to recognize situations requiring immediate supervisory attention
  • knowledge and practice of safety and security for guests

Job Duties

  • Clean, dust, wax, scrub, polish and service guest rooms daily in accordance with hotel procedures
  • stock cart with guest room supplies at beginning of shift
  • greet guests with a good morning or appropriate greeting
  • replace linens on beds and replenish guest room supplies
  • empty wastebaskets and clean ashtrays
  • rearrange furnishings, drapes and room accessories
  • provide necessary linen and amenities to guests as per guest room legend
  • ensure guest rooms are left in uniform arrangement and properly secured
  • report any damages, hazards, repairs, and strangers in assigned areas
  • return any found items with proper documentation to housekeeping department
  • be responsible for all keys signed out for the shift
  • clean all corridors and service areas
  • respond to projects or requests developed by housekeeping management
  • replace light bulbs when necessary
  • restock cart and organize linen closet at end of shift
  • perform other housekeeping duties as assigned
