Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs continually throughout a shift
  • must be able to push, pull and move levers, equipment and furniture throughout a shift
  • must be able to work with arms raised above head throughout a shift
  • must be able to maneuver fully loaded maid cart weighing up to 50lbs through hallways and closets during the day
  • ability to identify minute debris and dirt in poorly lit areas
  • ability to read written instructions and computer printouts
  • willingness to perform prolonged strenuous physical activity in an indoor climate-controlled environment

Job Qualifications

  • Must have basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products and operation of standard cleaning equipment
  • must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
  • no formal education or training required
  • no experience necessary

Job Duties

  • Cleans and prepares guest rooms by meeting established standards of cleanliness and propriety to assure guest satisfaction and maximize revenues
  • retrieves items from shelves and storerooms and sets up cleaning cart with supplies while maintaining carts and storerooms in a clean and orderly fashion to enhance efficiency
  • cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets and fixtures in rooms and public areas, often using ladders or stools to reach hard areas
  • washes shower walls, tubs, toilets, and cleans mirrors and sinks to maintain sanitary guest and public restrooms
  • replaces towels, soaps and room amenities and restocks literature to ensure adequate supply for arriving guests
  • washes hard floor areas by hand to remove dirt and soiled areas
  • dusts and polishes all furniture, fixtures and wall hangings including vents and ceiling corners
  • strips beds of all linen and remakes with fresh, checking cleanliness and replacing if soiled
  • lifts mattresses to check for soil
  • checks closets for cleanliness, wiping and restocking guest supplies such as hangers and extra pillows
  • vacuums rooms, public areas and hallways including underneath furniture and hard-to-reach areas
  • inspects door and window locks and alerts management to unsafe situations
  • inspects room equipment such as TV, lights, faucets and radios for proper functioning and reports maintenance deficiencies
  • secures and maintains custody of equipment, keys and supplies at all times to protect hotel property
  • maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times
  • performs other duties as assigned by management
