Job Requirements

  • No formal education or training required
  • must have basic knowledge of cleaning principles and cleaning product use
  • ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
  • must be able to lift up to 50 lbs continually throughout shift
  • ability to push, pull, and move levers, equipment and furniture
  • ability to work with arms raised above head
  • ability to maneuver loaded maid cart weighing up to 50 lbs
  • ability to identify small debris and dirt in poorly lit areas
  • must maintain friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor
  • able to work in indoor climate-controlled environment with exposure to heat and humidity in laundry area
  • willingness to perform other duties as assigned

Job Duties

  • Cleans and prepares guest rooms by meeting established standards of cleanliness and propriety to assure guest satisfaction and maximize revenues
  • retrieves items from shelves and storerooms, sets up cleaning cart with supplies, and maintains carts and storerooms in a clean and orderly fashion
  • cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in rooms, public areas, and hallways often using ladders or stools
  • replaces towels, soaps, and all room amenities and restocks literature
  • washes all hard floor areas by hand to remove dirt and soiled areas
  • dusts and polishes all furniture, fixtures, and wall hangings including vents and ceiling corners
  • strips bed linen and remakes beds with fresh linen
  • lifts mattresses and checks cleanliness beneath beds
  • checks closet cleanliness and restocks guest room supplies
  • vacuums rooms, public areas, and hallways including under furniture and hard-to-reach areas
  • inspects door and window locks and immediately alerts management to unsafe situations
  • inspects all room equipment and reports deficiencies to housekeeping management
  • secures and maintains custody of equipment, keys, and supplies
  • maintains a friendly and courteous demeanor
  • performs other duties as assigned or requested by management
