Job Requirements

  • Less than high school education
  • up to six months related experience or training
  • ability to read limited number of two and three-syllable words
  • ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • proficiency in English to communicate with guests
  • physical capability to stand, walk, use hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear regularly
  • ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • willingness to work with cleaning fluids and operate hand tools
  • ability to reach 2 feet above the head
  • ability to work in moderate noise environment

Job Qualifications

  • ability to apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions
  • basic English speaking skills to communicate with guests
  • ability to recognize situations requiring supervisory attention
  • knowledge of guest safety and security practices

Job Duties

  • Clean, dust, wax, scrub, polish and service guest rooms daily in accordance with hotel procedures
  • stock cart with guest room supplies at beginning of shift
  • greet guests warmly upon encounter
  • replace linens on beds and replenish guest room supplies
  • empty wastebaskets and clean ashtrays
  • rearrange furnishings, drapes and room accessories
  • provide necessary linen and amenities to guests as per guest room legend
  • secure and lock guest rooms after servicing
  • report any damage, hazards, repairs and strangers in assigned areas
  • return found items to Housekeeping department with detailed documentation
  • be responsible for all keys signed out for the shift
  • clean corridors and service areas
  • respond to housekeeping management requests or projects
  • replace light bulbs if necessary
  • restock cart at end of shift and organize linen closet
  • perform other housekeeping duties as assigned
