Job Duties

  • Sorts, counts, folds, marks, or carries linens
  • cleans multiple rooms daily including changing linens, making beds, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, and polishing furniture and fixtures
  • replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies
  • cleans corridors and stairways
  • sweeps and scrubs bathroom floors
  • cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
  • dusts furniture, washes walls and woodwork, and cleans windows, door panels, and sills
  • empties wastebaskets and cleans ashtrays
  • transports trash and waste to disposal areas
  • replenishes bathroom supplies and replaces light bulbs
  • scrubs bathroom vanity, toilet, mirrors, walls, and bathroom fan
  • completes quality checks on television, telephone, AC, and smoke detectors
  • removes items left behind from rooms and follows proper lost and found procedures
  • reports maintenance problems through proper channels
  • uses supplies and equipment carefully
  • wears proper uniform at all times
  • achieves a score of 90 percent or higher on room inspections
  • greets guests pleasantly and uses guest names when entering occupied rooms
  • maintains knowledge of hotel products and local area information
  • organizes and stocks housekeeping carts efficiently
  • contributes to keeping commercial areas clean and neat
  • responds promptly to customer needs for housekeeping supplies
  • checks vacant room status daily
  • maintains a clean and organized supply room
  • assists coworkers when needed
