Job Requirements

  • Less than high school education
  • up to six months related experience or training
  • ability to read simple two- and three-syllable words
  • ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed oral or written instructions
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • ability to recognize situations requiring supervisory attention
  • physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk or hear for extended periods
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds frequently
  • ability to work with cleaning chemicals and operate hand tools
  • ability to reach two feet above head
  • willingness to maintain moderate noise level work environment

Job Duties

  • Clean, dust, wax, scrub, polish and service guest rooms daily in accordance with hotel procedures
  • stock cart with guest room supplies at beginning of shift
  • greet guests with appropriate salutations
  • replace linens on beds and replenish guest room supplies
  • empty wastebaskets and ashtrays
  • rearrange furnishings, drapes and room accessories
  • provide necessary linens and amenities as per guest room legend
  • ensure guest room is left in uniform arrangement, door closed and locked
  • report damages, hazards, repairs and strangers in assigned areas
  • return found items to housekeeping as lost and found with detailed documentation
  • responsible for all keys signed out for the shift
  • clean corridors and service areas
  • respond to projects or requests from housekeeping management
  • replace light bulbs if necessary
  • restock cart at end of shift and organize linen closet
  • perform other housekeeping duties as assigned
