Job Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of company orientation
- completion of food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment performing detailed and precise tasks
- ability to work with customers and stay attentive to their needs
- for bakery department, ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- for deli department, ability to lift up to 55 lbs occasionally
- physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, stair climb, pivot, twist, push, pull, and perform fine motor movements
- adherence to all food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to comply with department and store operating procedures

Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answers customer questions regarding products
- assists them with selections
- prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- assists in technical areas as needed
- uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- cleans and sanitizes display cases
- operates and maintains equipment properly
- complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- complies with department and store operating procedures
- records production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery)
- takes care of service counter customers (deli)
- serves and packages products at customer’s request (prepared foods)
- educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
- uses ordering system applications (deli)
- performs inventory management processes (deli)
- performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers (deli)
- ensures catering orders are prepared and ready in time for customer pickup (deli if applicable)
- cuts, slices, dices, chops food in preparation for chef (prepared foods)
