Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Five years related experience in hospitality industry
- CPR and First Aid certifications
- Physical ability to hike up to 10 miles per day
- Basic knowledge of Southern Utah history and Colorado Plateau geology
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Familiarity with recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff
- High level of energy
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent GED required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Five years related experience in hospitality industry required
- Road Scholar instructor or group leader experience preferred
- CPR and First Aid certifications
- Physical ability to hike up to 10 miles per day in varying elevations, terrains and conditions
- Basic knowledge of Southern Utah history and Colorado Plateau geology, geography, human history, flora, and fauna
- Strong organizational skills and effective in prioritizing and multi-tasking
- Ability to perform under pressure in emergency situations
- Familiarity with recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising program staff
- High level of energy and enthusiasm in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to exercise critical human relations skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse community
Job Duties
- Lead Road Scholar hiking trips with 14 to 24 participants
- Assist Road Scholar Director in planning, organizing, and supervising Road Scholar programs
- Plan the program educational content and activity management
- Maintain good communication at all times
- Research new ideas and recommend changes as needed
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise instructors and hike leaders
- Plan ongoing training sessions and special events
- Assist with bus maintenance and management
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational, time management and people skills
- Set goals, prioritize, make decisions, communicate and delegate
- Initiate a positive tone for the whole office
- Perform other duties as assigned
