Job Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher in nursing
  • must obtain Bachelor’s Degree in nursing within five years if initial degree is Associate
  • current valid Illinois RN license
  • current CPR certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • obtain ACLS certification within six months of employment
  • ability to work night shifts including weekends and holidays
  • flexibility to float to other adult inpatient units as needed
  • minimum 1-year inpatient nursing experience preferred
  • compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • willingness to participate in orientation and ongoing education
  • physical ability to assist in patient transport
  • commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care

Job Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or higher in nursing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing within five years if highest degree is associate
  • current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure
  • current CPR certification by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of start date
  • 1 year of inpatient nursing experience highly preferred
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to provide compassionate patient care
  • proficiency in clinical assessment and nursing interventions

Job Duties

  • Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes
  • evaluates patient progress toward attainment of outcomes
  • revises diagnosis, interventions, and expected outcomes as needed
  • provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family, and other health care providers
  • communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly
  • communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team
  • documents patient health data, interventions, and communications
  • individualizes patient and family teaching based on thorough assessment
  • assesses cultural background, learning style, and barriers
  • provides teaching on disease management, emergency care, and drug information
  • identifies community resources to support self-management
  • contributes to professional development of peers, students, and other health care providers
  • shares knowledge and provides feedback
  • assigns or delegates tasks as needed
  • nurtures a compassionate environment by providing psychological support
  • assists technical staff with injections, venipuncture, drug administration, oxygen therapy, and IV management
  • participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research
  • supports evidence-based care
  • conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients if skilled
  • complies with HIPAA regulations
  • assists in transporting acutely ill patients as needed
