Job Description

Butler Hospital, established in 1844, is Rhode Island's only non-profit, free-standing psychiatric hospital. It specializes in providing comprehensive assessment and treatment for adults, seniors, and adolescents with major psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse disorders. As a key member of the Care New England Health System, Butler Hospital serves as the major affiliated teaching hospital for psychiatry and behavioral health at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Job Requirements

  • Active RN license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work rotating shifts
  • Availability to work full-time or part-time
  • Physical ability to perform nursing duties
  • Willingness to comply with hospital policies and procedures
  • Background check clearance

Job Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing preferred
  • Ability to work all shifts including days, evenings, and nights
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Commitment to ethical standards and patient confidentiality
  • Basic computer literacy

Job Duties

  • Provide direct nursing care to psychiatric patients
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care as necessary
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Support patients and families through education and counseling
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely
  • Participate in clinical research and continuous education initiatives
