Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- 2-4 years of experience in safety coordination or risk management
- knowledge of OSHA and aquatic safety standards
- strong organizational and communication skills
- proficiency with Microsoft Office and risk management systems
- ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments
- adaptable and able to manage occasional evening or weekend work
- commitment to social justice and equity
- willingness to support diverse communities
- valid driver certification process participation
- experience with incident investigation and reporting
- able to respond to risk and compliance inquiries promptly.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Safety, Public Administration, Management or related field
- 2-4 years of experience in safety coordination, risk management, or compliance
- familiarity with OSHA/WISHA regulations
- knowledge of aquatic safety and child protection
- strong organizational skills
- excellent communication and analytical abilities
- proficiency with Microsoft Suite and risk management software
- experience working with diverse populations
- ability to speak additional languages preferred
- experience in nonprofit or youth-serving organizations preferred
- familiarity with legal or insurance processes preferred.
Job Duties
- Assist in development of risk matrix and accident prevention
- manage incident cases from initial reporting through resolution, including notifying insurance carriers and documenting findings
- conduct incident investigation, reporting and review processes with timely follow-up
- maintain and update risk management policies
- review CPR certifications submitted
- manage the authorized driver certification process in partnership with HR
- respond to tickets related to risk, safety, and compliance
- support volunteer-related risk processes including background checks and escalation management
- assist with aquatic safety audits, drills, and certification
- support implementation of YMCA Aquatics Safety standards
- coordinate with health departments and regulatory agencies
- develop safety training content in collaboration with Learning & Development
- facilitate effective Safety Committee meetings
- conduct facility audits and inspections including residential and overnight facilities
- facilitate incident and accident management training
- ensure compliance with driving safety standards
- develop weekly safety talks and annual refresher training content
- manage insurance renewal processes in collaboration with insurance providers
- participate in strategic planning with insurance brokers
- ensure timely distribution of certificates of insurance and coordination with third-party brokers
- monitor and renew regulatory licenses and permits
- oversee compliance with OSHA 300 posting and removal requirements
- prepare and submit quarterly and year-end risk assessment reports
- maintain and execute the risk management yearly calendar ensuring timely completion of audits, training and compliance tasks
- coordinate risk initiatives with organizational goals
- support cross-departmental collaboration on safety, insurance and volunteerism-related risk
- maintain risk management systems and ensure timely, accurate data entry
- prepare reports for Risk & Safety Director
- use data to support continuous safety improvement
- work closely with Risk Director, HR, Branch Operations and other teams
- participate in Safety, Child Protection and Aquatics committees
- adhere to policies related to boundaries
- complete required abuse risk management training
- follow procedures for managing high-risk situations
- meet mandated reporting requirements
- fulfill job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities
- demonstrate leadership competencies in program project management, operational management, and influence and collaboration.
