- minimum age 18
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- ability to work with customers attentively
- ability to perform department-specific tasks
- ability to reach, grasp, stand, walk, bend, and lift as required in specific departments
- commitment to food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties
- provides superior customer service
- takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answers customer questions regarding products and assists them with selections
- prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- assists in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
- uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- cleans and sanitizes display cases
- operates and maintains equipment properly
- complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- complies with department and store operating procedures
- performs department-specific responsibilities such as baking, frying, decorating in bakery
- takes care of service counter customers and performs inventory management in deli
- serves and packages products and educates customers in prepared foods
